Universidade Politécnica de Viseu: sustainable mobility with the Solum Helios-G
A Solum Helios-G station in the residential area of the Universidade Politécnica de Viseu, giving the academic community a dedicated charging point for e-bikes and e-scooters.
Sustainable mobility takes hold when it is close to the people who use it. In the residential area of the Universidade Politécnica de Viseu, the academic community now has a charging point dedicated to e-bikes and e-scooters, right where students live.
Sustainable mobility where students live.
The residential area of the Universidade Politécnica de Viseu is a place of daily life and movement, where mobility plays an important part in connecting the academic community with the rest of the city. Growing demand for more sustainable ways of getting around brought with it the need for infrastructure that can keep up with new travel habits, particularly the use of e-bikes and e-scooters.
The challenge
The challenge was to provide a charging solution that was accessible, safe and integrated into the university environment, encouraging more efficient means of transport and reducing reliance on conventional vehicles. It had to be functional infrastructure, suited to the needs of students and other users, that would help make the residential area more modern, more sustainable and ready for the future of urban mobility.
The solution
Enbiente installed a Helios-G station, by Solum, in the residential area of the Universidade Politécnica de Viseu, strengthening support for light electric mobility and promoting a more sustainable use of university spaces. The installation was designed to give the academic community a charging point dedicated to e-bikes and e-scooters, built into users' daily routines. The solution helps make short journeys more practical and encourages transport alternatives with a lower environmental impact.
- Installation of one Solum Helios-G station in the university residential area
- A charging point dedicated to e-bikes and e-scooters
- A station integrated into the residential area, close to where students live
The result
Bringing the station into the residential area is also an investment in modernising the infrastructure that supports the university community, moving sustainable mobility closer to where students live and go about their activities. The result is infrastructure that adds functionality to the space, promotes new mobility habits and contributes to a university environment that is more accessible and better prepared for the challenges of the energy transition. With this project, Enbiente reinforces its commitment to developing solutions that bring technology, sustainability and the real needs of communities closer together.
