Campocheio - solar self-consumption at a commercial space
15.15 kWp photovoltaic system installed at Campocheio, in Figueiró. 30 panels split across east- and west-facing strings to extend generation throughout the day and maximise self-consumption.
A business does not consume at peak hour - it consumes all day. Installing panels facing south alone is responding to the sun, not the business. At Campocheio, the solution was to spread generation: east in the morning, west in the afternoon, consumption covered from end to end.
Generating energy at the pace of the business.
In a commercial space, energy generation cannot be concentrated only in the peak radiation hours. Consumption follows the rhythm of the business, steadily throughout the day. With a stable, distributed consumption profile, Campocheio was looking for a solution to increase self-consumption and deliver a more balanced generation curve, matched to the real needs of the operation.
The challenge
Design a photovoltaic installation that extends energy generation from the early morning through to the end of the day, increasing the use of generated energy and reducing grid dependence.
- 30 photovoltaic panels installed
- 15,15 kWp total installed power
Design and installation
Enbiente developed a solution tailored to the building's consumption profile, prioritising a more evenly distributed generation curve throughout the day.
- Photovoltaic system comprising 30 panels of 505 W each
- Installed power of 15.15 kWp
- 12 kW SMA Solar inverter
- Monitoring system with SMA Energy Meter
- Panels split across two strategically oriented strings - one east-facing, one west-facing
- Configuration optimised to extend energy generation throughout the day
The result
The installation makes better use of available sunlight, starting generation in the early morning and extending it through to the late afternoon. The result is a closer match between generation and consumption, increasing self-consumption and reducing the need to draw from the grid. More than installing solar panels, this project shows that efficiency is not just about installed power - above all, it depends on intelligent design and a solution built around each business's actual needs.
